mmm....CalDAV. Standards based syncing. And, theoretically, CalDAV supports file attachments, too (or is that only the Apple server?). Anyway, first release is only supporting iCal as a client. And I think my setup is still too complex, so I'll need to stick with Spanning Sync.

This is a very long article, but a must read -- it posits that we are in the first third of a ~45 year sea change, where we cannot yet see what is to come with regards to information production AND consumption online. Many excellent quotes, here's one that points out how long we've been in the current newspaper model: "Publishers and editors forget that their editorial practices are based upon the limitation of technologies that were invented when horses were the only form of transportation on our streets."
